“Our goal is to bring the most innovative and effective diagnostic technologies to the point of care, whether in the home, your local care location or processed rapidly in a lab. We want to help you to become more involved in managing your health and wellness.”
–Dan Eckert, Chairman and CEO
One of the most significant changes in healthcare delivery occurred when reimbursement shifted to Value Based Care reimbursement models that incentivize providers to improve clinical outcomes and control costs. Value-based reimbursement introduced targeted financial incentives that focused on increasing quality of care, improving outcomes and reducing costs. This model drove healthcare providers to increase adoption of predictive diagnostic testing and to use diagnostic information it generates (e.g. chemical, molecular and genetic) to inform and empower care delivery and health and wellness management.
Clinical Diagnostics is experiencing a paradigm shift also. Prior to the Covid pandemic, there was significant, although gradual progress toward diagnostic testing technologies designed to sit at the point of care rather than in a central laboratory. In response to the pandemic, the FDA moved quickly to approve decentralized testing devices under Emergency Use Authorization (EUA). This accelerated the approval and use of rapid tests that could be completed in the home and/or with a self-collected sample transported to a lab for processing
Aqueous Health was formed to address the market needs created by these changes in healthcare delivery and the trend toward direct consumer/patient engagement in management of their health and wellness.
